If I have to see the same five books recommended one more time… I might start handing out library cards to people who swear those are the only books that exist.
Don’t get me wrong. Some of those books are fantastic. But somewhere between the millionth special edition, the endless BookTok videos, and every “must-read” list looking exactly the same, I started wondering something.
What about everyone else?
There are thousands of indie authors out there writing incredible stories. Fantasy worlds you’ll get lost in. Cozy mysteries you’ll stay up way too late finishing. Romance that’ll have you kicking your feet like you’re sixteen again. Thrillers that make you double-check your locks before bed.
The problem isn’t that these books aren’t good enough.
The problem is most people never hear about them.
As indie authors, we wear every hat imaginable. We write the books, hire editors, work with cover designers, figure out formatting, build websites, package signed copies, answer emails, run social media, market ourselves, and somewhere in between all of that we’re supposed to magically convince readers to find us in a sea of millions of books.
No pressure, right?
That’s exactly why I decided Hideaway Creek needed to do something different.

Every month, we’ll feature an indie author right here on the website, share a little about them, introduce their book, and hopefully connect them with readers who may never have found them otherwise. This isn’t a contest, and it isn’t about who’s the “best.” It’s about creating another opportunity for hardworking indie authors to be seen.
